The Five-Second Rule(Under The Christmas Tree)

Lyrics

Oh, yeah, it's mission time! (Go!)

The house is packed with cousins and Aunt Jane's new beau

The eggnog's too strong, yeah, the temperature's low

(Overheated)

You're stuck by the fire, talking stocks with my dad

And this is the worst strategic plan we've ever had

(No signal!)

I got my exit route planned past the gingerbread man

Trying to avoid the path of your critical fan

(She's watching!)

I've got five minutes before they sing "Jingle Bells" slow

And I need to get you standing where the red ribbon bows

The crowd is dense, the mission is near impossible to complete

But I can feel the rhythm, I can feel the heat

(Stealth mode on)

I just need thirty seconds underneath the twinkling light

Gotta steal a moment in this crowded Christmas night

It's the five-second rule for a kiss under the tree

Gotta duck past the dog and the distant family

I'm weaving through the traffic of the holiday cheer

Just to whisper all the secrets I've been holding all year

Can we make it happen? We're running out of time

(No delays!)

Before the whole family discovers our private crime

(Shhh, quiet!)

I think I just saw your grandmother look my way

So I pretended I was interested in the gift display

(My cover)

I tried the left flank, past the punch bowl's bright stain

Now I'm stuck behind a guy explaining real estate again

(Oh, boring!)

You gave me the signal, a subtle nod with your head

You're clearing a lane past the cheese board instead

(Go, go, go!)

We're closing the gap, just a few more feet to go

Let's make a memory that nobody else will know

Are you ready to go?

(Ready to go, go!)

Down past the door?

(Give me more, more!)

Don't let them see us!

(Just you and me, yeah!)

They're all looking at the clock, they're all counting down fast

We're almost there, let's make a run for the glow

Underneath the lowest branch where the fairy lights grow!

(RUN!)
