Child in the Manger

Lyrics

Once upon a time the gates were locked against the night

A tired world was waiting for a glimmer of the light

No silver throne no banners flying high up in the sky

Just a dusty floor where the Holy One would lie

I see the straw that cushions Your small and holy head

The King of Kings asleep upon a pauper’s bed

You traded stars for breath and for this fragile human skin

To find a way to let a lonely wanderer in

Oh the mystery (HE IS HERE)

Of Your majesty (SO NEAR)

The Unending Word becomes a tiny cry

Beneath the vastness of a winter sky

Thank You Jesus (EMMANUEL)

For coming down to save a soul like me

Thank You Jesus (MY LORD)

The humble King for all the world to see

Holy night (SILENT NIGHT)

Holy night (BLESSED NIGHT)

The story says the nations looked for thunder and for flame

A warrior God to come and vindicate His name

But You arrived in silence and You arrived in peace

To bring the heavy heart its long and sweet release

The greatest power found a way to simply be

As small and fragile as a little child like me

Your tiny hands will one day hold the scars

To lead us home beyond the distant stars

Thank You Jesus (EMMANUEL)

For coming down to save a soul like me

Thank You Jesus (MY LORD)

The humble King for all the world to see

Holy night (SILENT NIGHT)

Holy night (BLESSED NIGHT)

For unto us a child is born (A CHILD)

Unto us a son is given (A SON)

And the government shall be upon His shoulder (HIS SHOULDER)

Wonderful Counselor (MIGHTY GOD)

Everlasting Father (PRINCE OF PEACE)

Sleep now (REST NOW)

Child in the manger (AMEN)

My Savior (MY JESUS)

My Savior
